Overview
Two days through Komodo National Park with the whole boat to yourselves. Akassa is a 25-metre wooden phinisi with three suites, so a charter here is ten guests at the absolute most and usually four or six, which is a different trip from sharing a twenty-berth boat with strangers.
The route is the short one and it does not waste a day: Kelor and Manjarite for snorkelling on the way out, the flying foxes at Kalong at dusk, then Padar before sunrise, the dragons at Komodo Village, Pink Beach and a drift over the cleaning station at Manta Point before you are back alongside. One night on board, both of the park's headline sights, and no one else's schedule to work around.
How the price works
This trip is sold as a whole boat rather than by the cabin, and the operator prices it in two bands. IDR 56,500,000 covers the vessel, the crew, the guide and every meal for up to four guests. Five to ten guests is IDR 64,000,000 for the same boat, still a single figure rather than a per-head one, which at full capacity is IDR 6,400,000 each. That is less than a cabin costs on most shared boats in the park, so the bigger your group the better a private charter reads. The suites are yours to divide however you like: Laut and Langit each take two extra beds, so ten people fit.
A note on the park fee
Komodo National Park charges its entrance fee directly, IDR 650,000 for foreign visitors and IDR 300,000 for Indonesian citizens, and it is not something we can collect or pre-pay on your behalf. Budget for it separately and pay it at the park.

Pickup from your hotel in central Labuan Bajo, or from Komodo Airport if you land this morning. The drive to the harbour takes about ten minutes.
- 09:30
Board Akassa, take your suite, and sit through the safety briefing on the sundeck while the crew clears the port.
- 11:00
Kelor Island. A short, steep climb of about twenty minutes up the ridge for the view back over the near islands, then a swim off the beach below.

Lunch on board under way, cooked in the galley while the boat repositions.
- 14:00
Manjarite. Calm, shallow and sheltered, which makes it the stop where nervous snorkellers get comfortable before tomorrow's currents. Coral starts a few metres off the beach.

Anchor off Kalong Island. At dusk thousands of flying foxes lift off the mangroves and cross the channel overhead. It lasts about twenty minutes and it is the reason the boat stops here rather than pressing on.

Dinner on deck at anchor, then the night on board in a sheltered bay.

Wake call and coffee on the sundeck. The tender runs to Padar in the dark so you are on the path before the light.

Padar Island. Around 45 minutes of steps and packed earth to the viewpoint over the three bays. This is the photograph that sells Komodo, and it is worth the alarm.

Back aboard for breakfast while the boat repositions to Komodo Island.

Komodo Village. A park ranger walks the group through dragon country on a marked trail. Dragons are wild animals and sightings are not guaranteed, though the ranger station area is where they are seen most often.

Lunch under way.

Pink Beach. The sand is pink because of red coral fragments ground into it, strongest at the waterline. The snorkelling straight off the beach is the best colour of the trip.

Manta Point at Karang Makassar. A drift snorkel along the cleaning station where reef mantas queue up. Currents run here, so the tender follows the group rather than the group swimming back.

Alongside at Labuan Bajo. Transfer to your hotel or to the airport. Late-afternoon flights are comfortable, early-afternoon ones are not.

Good to know
Is the whole boat really just for us?
Yes. This is a charter, not a shared trip, so the three suites, the sundeck, the lounge and the crew are yours for the two days. Nobody else is booked on.
We are six people. What does that cost?
IDR 64,000,000 for the whole boat, which is the five-to-ten band. Split six ways that is about IDR 10,700,000 each, and it keeps falling as the group grows: at ten guests the same figure is IDR 6,400,000 a head. Send us your dates and we will confirm before you commit to anything.
Will we definitely see Komodo dragons?
Almost always, but not guaranteed. They are wild animals in a national park, and the ranger walks the group along the trails where they are seen most often rather than to a feeding site. In practice groups see them on the great majority of visits.
Is one night enough for Komodo?
It is enough for the headline sights: Padar at sunrise, the dragons, Pink Beach and Manta Point all fit. What it does not leave room for is the quieter north of the park, Gili Lawa and the Taka Makassar sandbar, or a slow afternoon doing nothing. If that matters, the 3D2N is the better fit.
Can we change the route?
Within reason, yes, and the crew will adjust it for weather in any case. Tell us in advance if there is something you particularly want in or out and we will check it with the captain before you book rather than after.
Booking and cancellation terms
- A 30% deposit confirms your booking. The balance is due 14 days before departure.
- Cancel more than 4 months before departure: 50% of what you have paid is refunded.
- Cancel 2 to 4 months before departure: 30% is refunded.
- Cancel less than 2 months before departure: no refund.
- The trip can be moved once, and the request has to reach us at least one month before departure.
- Children under 2 travel free. From 3 years old the full rate applies.
- In an emergency, or for weather, sea conditions or safety, the itinerary can change while the trip still sails.
Full terms are confirmed with your booking. Bank transfer fees are paid by the sender.
