Hilltop park built around a giant 121m Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue, with daily dance shows.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana, GWK, is a large landscaped culture park on a hilltop in the Bukit, built around a colossal copper-and-steel statue of the god Vishnu riding the mythical bird Garuda. Completed in 2018, the statue stands about 121 metres tall including its base and is visible from much of southern Bali.
The grounds include the dramatic Lotus Pond hemmed by carved limestone pillars, viewpoints, gardens and an amphitheatre running scheduled Balinese dance and Kecak performances through the day.
It is a modern, ticketed attraction rather than an ancient site, and it can feel theme-park-like. Distances between areas are large, so there is a fair bit of walking (or a paid shuttle) in the open sun.
Getting there
GWK is in Ungasan on the Bukit, roughly 15 to 30 minutes from the Uluwatu and Jimbaran areas by scooter or car, and is often combined with Uluwatu Temple. Most visitors come by private driver or scooter. There is large on-site parking.
Best time
Late afternoon is comfortable for cooler air and the day's final dance performances, with the statue lit warmly toward golden hour. Check the daily show schedule on arrival and plan your route around the performance times.
Good to know
Foreign adult entry is around IDR 125,000 for the standard ticket, with pricier tiers for going up inside the statue. It is a lot of open walking with little shade, so bring water and sun cover, and grab a performance schedule at the gate.
The standard foreign adult ticket is around IDR 125,000 as of 2025, with higher-priced packages that include access inside the statue. Check current tiers when booking, and note kids pay a reduced rate.
Yes, on a higher-tier ticket you can access viewing levels inside the statue. It costs more than standard entry and may run on timed slots, so ask at the ticket counter.
It is impressive in scale and good for the dance shows and the statue itself, but it is a modern, commercial park with lots of walking, not a historic temple. Set expectations accordingly and time it for a performance.
