Sand tinted rose by red coral fragments, best for a swim and shallow snorkel.
Pantai Merah, the Pink Beach, gets its blush from tiny fragments of red coral and the shells of microscopic organisms that mix into the white sand. The color is real but subtle. It reads strongest when the sand is wet at the waterline and in soft morning or late light, and it looks pinker in photos than to the naked eye.
The draw here is the water as much as the sand. The reef starts close to shore, so you can wade in and snorkel over coral and reef fish without a boat ride out.
It is an open beach with little shade and basic or no facilities, and on busy days several boats anchor off at once.
Getting there
Pink Beach is reached by boat from Labuan Bajo harbor and usually sits on the same loop as Padar and Komodo Island. Join a shared speedboat day tour or take a private speedboat to linger longer. Park and conservation fees for Komodo National Park apply on top of the boat fare.
Best time
Morning light brings out the pink tint and the sea is generally calmer for snorkeling. The dry season from April to November gives better underwater visibility. Aim to arrive before or after the midday cluster of tour boats.
Good to know
Bring a snorkel set and reef-safe sunscreen, and pack water and a hat because shade is scarce. Watch for boat traffic when you swim out, and do not stand on or break the coral that gives the beach its color.

It is solid for an easy reef. Coral and fish start in shallow water right off the beach, which suits casual snorkelers, though stronger reefs exist elsewhere in the park.
Expect very little, often nothing reliable. Bring your own water, snacks, and sun protection, and plan to use facilities on your boat.
