Berawa is Canggu's beach-club beach. The sand is broad, dark, and volcanic, and the shoreline is more open and less rocky than Batu Bolong, which gives it a roomier feel. The wave is a beach break that works for beginners and improvers on the right day, and surf schools operate here too.
What sets Berawa apart is the row of large beach clubs behind the sand, including some of Canggu's biggest names. You can split a day between a daybed, a pool, and a paddle, which is exactly what many visitors do.
It is developed and not a quiet escape, but it is comfortable, with easy food, drinks, and sunset views over the water.
Getting there
From central Canggu (Batu Bolong) it is about 10 minutes by scooter, though the Berawa road is one of the area's worst for traffic. Ride a scooter or take a Gojek or Grab, and use the paid parking near the beach entrance. Walking from nearby villas is common.
Best time
Mornings are quieter for a swim or a surf lesson. Sunset is when the beach clubs come alive and the strip gets busy, so arrive early if you want a daybed or a clear patch of sand.

Beach clubs usually charge a minimum spend for daybeds, so check before you settle in. Swim inside the flagged zones and respect lifeguard flags, as currents can pick up, and bring cash for parking and warungs.
