Karang Boma is a clifftop viewpoint a short distance from Uluwatu Temple, looking out over a sheer limestone headland that drops around 100 metres straight into the Indian Ocean. The signature shot is the jagged promontory framed by blue water, which has made it a social-media favourite.
There are no fences, railings or barriers at the edge, and the rock can be undercut, so this is a genuinely exposed place that demands caution, especially in wind or near the lip for photos.
Getting there involves a short walk along a rough path from the parking area through scrubland. It is open and shadeless, and at sunset it draws a crowd of photographers along the cliff.

Karang Boma is near Uluwatu Temple at the southwest of the Bukit, about 20 to 40 minutes from most Uluwatu accommodation by scooter or car. Follow signs or a map pin to the small parking area, then walk the rough track a few minutes to the cliff edge.
Best time
Late afternoon into sunset is the classic time for the light on the headland, though it is busiest then. Go on a clear, calm day and avoid the edge in strong wind; early morning is quieter if you prefer fewer people.
