Telaga Bintang is a small enclosed pool of still, jade-coloured water hemmed in by karst rock in the Fam islands, a short hop from Piaynemo. Seen from the rock above, the lagoon and the narrow inlets running off it form the rough outline of a five-pointed star, which is where the name comes from and the entire reason anyone climbs up.
The viewpoint is a scramble rather than a walk. It is only a few minutes from the water's edge, but it goes up a sharp limestone outcrop using rock edges and tree roots for grip, with no steps, no railings and no made path. The limestone here is the kind that has weathered into blades and points, so it grips your shoes well and takes the skin off your hands and shins just as efficiently. People who have just come from the built staircase at Piaynemo are often surprised by the difference.

Unofficial community charges can also be collected at individual sites, so carry small notes.
