A multi-tier mainland waterfall near Sempe village, named the 'talking water' by locals.
Ai Beling is in the hills of Moyo Hulu district, inland and south of Sumbawa Besar near Sempe village, and the first thing to clear up is that it has nothing to do with Moyo Island despite the name overlap. This is mainland Sumbawa, reached by road, in Dusun Kuang Amo.
The water spills out of gaps in the rock and runs down a long staircase of stone tiers rather than dropping off a cliff, forming shallow pools at the bottom that are noticeably cold and shallow enough to stand in. Cars cannot reach the parking area itself, so the final approach is about a fifteen minute walk in. A motorbike is the easier option, and hiring a local driver or guide makes finding the turning far less painful than navigating alone.
