ルウク・バンガイ、中部スラウェシ

Luwuk's easy in-town beach, calm bay water and sunken statues a short swim out.
Kilo Lima gets its name the simplest way possible: it sits about five kilometres out of central Luwuk, and locals named it for the distance marker. It faces into Luwuk Bay with the Banggai islands somewhere out on the horizon, and because the bay shelters it, the water is usually calm and clear enough to pick out coral from the surface. For a beach you can reach in a quarter of an hour from town, that is a good deal.
The oddity that everyone comes for is underwater. In 2020 the local managers sank a set of statues just offshore, sitting in only two to three metres of water, as a snorkelling and photo feature. They are an easy free-dive for anyone with a mask, and they have become the thing people photograph here. The choice was not universally popular locally when it happened, and they are a deliberate installation rather than anything historic, but they work: you can find them, hold your breath, get the shot, and be back on the sand in a few minutes. Around them there is real coral and a decent number of small reef fish.
This is a town beach, and it behaves like one. There are warungs, there is parking, there is a small entrance fee paid in cash, and on evenings and weekends there are a lot of people. It is not wilderness and does not pretend to be. Where it earns its place is as the low-effort option: a swim after a hot day, a sunset with a drink, or a quick snorkel when you do not have the six hours a trip to Pulo Dua demands.

行き方
Kilo Lima is about 5 km south of central Luwuk along the main coastal road, which is a 10 to 15 minute run by scooter, ojek or car, and a similar hop from Luwuk's airport if you have time to kill before a flight. There is no boat, no walk and no complication, which makes it the single most accessible thing on this coast. Park at the beach, pay the small entry and parking fee in cash at the gate, and you are on the sand.
ベストシーズン
Late afternoon into sunset is when the beach is at its best, with the heat off and the light soft across the bay, and it is also when the warungs are liveliest. For snorkelling, come instead on a calm morning at higher tide, when the water over the statues and the coral is clearest and least stirred up. Weekday mornings are quiet; evenings and weekends draw local crowds, which is either the atmosphere you wanted or exactly what you were trying to avoid.
知っておきたいこと
Bring your own mask if you want to see the statues, since hire is not dependable and they are only a short swim from shore in two to three metres of water. If you free-dive down for a photograph, go with someone else on the surface rather than alone. Keep an eye on your belongings, as this is a busy public beach rather than a supervised resort. Bring small notes for entry, parking and the warungs. Take your rubbish with you: the beach is cleaned by local staff and it is a poor thanks to leave more of it behind than you found.
Because it sits about five kilometres from the centre of Luwuk and locals named it after the distance marker. Lima is Indonesian for five.

It is easy and enjoyable rather than world-class. The sheltered bay water lets you see coral and reef fish close to shore, and the statues are the novelty. For serious reef, Pulo Dua up the coast is the better trip.
Yes. It faces west into Luwuk Bay and is one of the most popular places in town to watch the sun go down, with warungs on hand for food and a drink.
Yes, a small one collected at the gate in cash, with parking charged separately. Rates differ between weekdays and weekends, so bring small notes.
Very busy on weekend evenings and holidays, when it functions as Luwuk's main public beach. Weekday mornings are much quieter and better for swimming and snorkelling.
