Floating Market Lembang is a purpose-built leisure park around a small lake in the cool highlands north of Bandung, and it is worth understanding what it is before you go: this is not a traditional market and never was. It was designed as a family day out, and the signature feature is a line of wooden boats moored along the water from which vendors sell Indonesian street snacks and drinks to people standing on the bank.
The quirk everyone runs into is the money. Rupiah is not accepted at the food boats. You exchange cash for the park's own token coins at a counter first, and spend those, which catches out visitors who wander straight in and try to order. Sort the coins out on arrival rather than queueing twice.
Beyond the boats it is a full leisure complex: gardens, a koi pond, paddle boats and canoes for hire, a mini market and a set of paid photo and play areas. It is polished, it is a little theme-park in feel, and it is genuinely popular, running to several thousand visitors a day during Indonesian holiday periods and extending its hours into the evening at those times.
Two practical warnings. Reported opening hours and ticket prices differ substantially between sources and appear to change, so treat anything you read in advance, including here, as indicative. And the park's own website was returning a server error rather than loading when we checked in mid-2026. That is not evidence it has closed, and everything else we found points to it operating normally, but it does mean phoning ahead is a sensible precaution before making the drive.

Floating Market Lembang is around 20 km north of Bandung in Lembang, which sounds close and is not, because the Lembang road is one of the slowest stretches around the city. Weekend and holiday traffic can turn the journey into a multi-hour crawl, so most visitors come by private car, taxi or tour and leave early. There is a large car park at the entrance. The site sits close enough to Tangkuban Perahu that the two are frequently combined into one northern day trip, which is efficient but means committing to Lembang traffic twice in a day.

A weekday morning, without much competition. The air is cooler, the lakeside is calm, the traffic on the Lembang road is bearable, and you are not queueing for the token counter. Weekends, school holidays and Indonesian public holidays are extremely busy, with visitor numbers running into the thousands per day and opening hours sometimes extended into the evening to cope. The dry season keeps the gardens and the boat areas pleasant; it is a largely outdoor site and rain takes the point out of it.
